The Alumni of Central Academy Store is an independent project by proud Central Academy alumni and is not officially associated with either Central Academy or The Central Academy Alumni Network. Proceeds are donated to The Central Academy Alumni Network to assist in its mission to support continued excellence in education at the Academy.

The tradition of the "Third Floor: Nerd Floor" shirt began with the class of 2000 and has been revived in several different versions by subsequent generations of Central Academy students. Though the location of Central Academy classes has change over the years, Central Academy was originally housed entirely within the third floor of what was formerly the Des Moines Technical High School building.
